Bihar is an agrarian based economy with most of the population residing in rural areas being indulged in agricultural activities either directly or indirectly. It is the largest producer of vegetables, which is dominated by potato, onion, eggplant & cauliflower and ranks among top five vegetable producing states in India. There are several relevant numerous factor which disintegrate vegetable value chain and make it complex such as transportation, logistics, packaging, sorting, grading and post harvest losses thus it became very difficult for farmers to sustain in these circumstances and situations. To create a professionally managed institution providing a comprehensive suite of post-harvest management services
To provide permanent marketing centres at village/ panchayat to help in bridging market inadequacies
To create efficient market linkages and provide an alternative marketing platform to the farmers for better price realization for their produce, and
To create appropriate institutional and organizational linkages through formation of three-tier cooperative structure to mobilize farmers and build their capacity. This will help ensure maximum outreach and impact at the base level.

बिहार राज्य सब्जी प्रसंस्करण एवं विपणन योजना की शुरुआत वर्ष 20 15- 16 में की गई है l योजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य सब्जी के उत्पादन एवं उत्पादकता में वृद्धि ,सब्जी उत्पादकों को उत्पादन का लाभकारी मूल्य दिलाना, वेजिटेबल सप्लाई चैन को प्रभावी बनाना पोस्ट हार्वेस्ट लॉस को कम करना, उपभोक्ताओं को अत्यधिक मूल से राहत दिलाना एवं सब्जी क्षेत्र में मूल्य संवर्धन करना हैl योजना का क्रियान्वयन बिहार सहकारी समितियां अधिनियम 1935 के तहत गठित एवं निबंधित त्रिस्तरीय सहकारी संरचना के माध्यम से किया जा रहा है l प्रखंड स्तर पर प्रखंड स्तरीय प्राथमिक सब्जी समितियां क्षेत्रीय स्तर पर कुछ जिलों को मिलाकर सब्जी प्रसंस्करण एवं विपणन सहकारी संघ लिमिटेड को केंद्रीय सहकारी समिति के रूप में गठित एवं निबंधित किया गया है तथा शीर्ष स्तर पर सब्जी प्रसंस्करण एवं विपणन सहकारी फेडरेशन का गठन एवं निबंधित किया गया हैl इस योजना से किसान एवं उपभोक्ता काफी लाभान्वित हो रहे हैंl
